So what is a "literary" bed and breakfast anyway??

It’s a place where both books and people are enjoyed.
The dream of The White Whale Revisited began when one of the proprietors was reading Bill Richardson's best-seller, Bachelor Brothers' Bed and Breakfast, while we were in Barnegat Light celebrating her birthday. We imagined a cozy spot with lots of books and a relaxed atmosphere where visitors could be pampered and indulged, where there would be plenty of book-ful conversation if they wanted it. But we are not just for booklovers. If you love Long Beach Island, if you enjoy the ocean and the bay, if you enjoy the lighthouse, lounging, birdwatching, fishing, bicycling, and good food--and if you like being pampered--The White Whale Revisited could be the right place for you, too.

We are three academics--teachers and a researcher. We like words and we value communication: one of us is a writer, one a painter, one has experience on the stage. Collectively, we have a wonderful library, which, when you come to the ocean, will be at your disposal.

You’ll find here an ample full breakfast with lots of choices. You will find hammocks and a shady back yard for daydreaming, reading or napping when you’re not on the beach. You might even find that there’s a crowd watching the Tour de France!

We hope you’ll also find a relaxing experience you'll want to repeat.
